Quietly situated holiday residence with a shared pool and its own hand-weaving enterprise on site


This property is a 300-year-old farmhouse and originally belonged to the Fattoria di Brolio. It is right as the heart of Chianti Classico and is very close to the famous Castello di Brolio. The property is in a quiet and idyllic valley in the midst of cypresses and an oak forest. Behind the house there is the Dudda stream.



The site comprises a holiday house, Capanna, for two people, and a holiday apartment, La Loggia, for four people. It is possible to rent the two together, if you would like to spend a holiday with family or friends, but still have your own space. Both units have a fridge, coffee machine, toaster, satellite TV and garden furniture. The owners also live in the main house on the first floor, on this special and harmonious site. The family has a dog called Lucky, three cats, ducks and hens, and you will be greeted in the morning by the crowing of the cockerel. This is an ideal setting for quiet moments, while “civilisation” is nearby.



Heating is available at a fee (calculated according to meter). A cot can be provided at a supplementary charge, to be indicated in advance. There is an external laundry room. A mobile grill can be provided on request. The residences are suitable for families with children. They are not wheelchair-accessible. Pets are not allowed. Long-term rentals are welcome.



There is a hand-weaving enterprise on site, run by the owner. Everyone is welcome to visit this atelier with its traditional old weaving chairs and valuable individual pieces. In the garden there is a shared pool measuring 7.3 x 3.6m and a depth of 1.2m, open from June to September. The access road is 200 metres long, is not asphalted but in good condition. There is parking space on site.



It is a perfect place to recover from everyday stress and an ideal starting point for trips to historical towns such as Siena, Florence, Arezzo and the medieval towns of Montepulciano, Pienza and San Gimignano. The nearest shops are in Gaiole (about 7km), along with a post office, banks, a pharmacy and restaurants.

Due to the current situation only one accommodation is rented or both to a group or family. In that case the pool is of exclusive use. Annex with a private terrace This is a detached former hay barn with 72m² of living space with a private terrace and a pergola, suitable for a small family with a child (max. 14 years). The ground floor has an open, well-equipped kitchen, with a dining space and fireplace stove, as well as a big living room with a sofa bed (80 x 200cm). At an intermediate level behind the tower there is a bedroom that is open to the living room with a double bed (180 x 190cm) and a bathroom below it with a shower, WC and bidet. This accommodation has been decorated with hand-woven works from the on-site atelier. It is possible to add a cot.

    “Wir waren zu zweit und haben das separate Ferienhaus gebucht. Alles war sehr sauber und schön eingerichtet mit viel liebe zum Detail (frische Blumen inklusive). Auch wurden wir von unserer Gastgeberin mit frischem Brot, frischen Eiern und Tomaten bestens versorgt. Der Pool war sehr sauber und für eine Abkühlung ideal. Der Ort ist sehr abgelegen und eignet sich super dazu, um einmal abschalten zu können. Wir hätten für uns keine bessere Wahl treffen können.”

    “Unser Ferienhäuschen La Capanna hat genau das geboten was wir uns erhofft hatten: Sehr ruhig, sehr sauber und mit absoluter Privatsphäre. Der Zustand des Hauses und die Ausstattung ist sehr originell und gut. Besonders hervorheben möchten wir das grosse und sehr gute Bett, in welchem wir immer wunderbar geschlafen haben und das grosse Bad mit einer angenehmen Dusche. Wir haben im dazugehörenden «Gärtchen» immer gemütlich, zum Teil unter der alten Glyzinien-Pergola, gegessen. Die Lage umgeben vom Wald auf einer sonnigen Lichtung abseits vom Ferienrummel hat uns die Ruhe und Erholung geboten, welche wir gesucht hatten. Neben dem kleinen Häuschen gibt es noch ein zweites Haus, in welchem die Besitzerin wohnt und eine weitere Ferienwohnung im Erdgeschoss mit Garten und eigenem Eingang vorhanden ist. Beide Häuser sind voneinander getrennt, so dass wir die anderen Feriengäste kaum gespürt haben. Zum Anwesen gehört auch ein kleines Schwimmbad, welches sehr sauber war und wir oft genutzt haben. Die Besitzerin ist sehr freundlich und sympathisch. Wir haben die hausgemachten Konfitüren und die frischen Eier von ihren Hühnern sehr genossen. Die Besitzerin ist Weberin und ihr kleines Webatelier ist in einem kleinen Nebengebäude. Wir haben einige sehr schöne von ihr von Hand gewobene Schals und Tücher gekauft. Sie werden uns immer an die schönen Ferien bei Frau Düx erinnern.
    Wir haben das «dolce far niente» rund um unser Häuschen sehr genossen und konnten unsere Seelen baumeln lassen.”

    “Die Capanna war genau das was wir gesucht haben. Wir haben uns super wohl gefühlt in dem sauberen, stimmungsvoll eingerichteten Landhaus in traumhafter Umgebung. Die Vermieter sind ausgesprochen nett und zuvorkommend. Die Handweberei der Vermieter ist für uns ein weiteres Highlight am Ort. Es gibt wunderbare Stoffe zu bestaunen und zu kaufen.
    Dass alles notwendige für die ersten Urlaubstage schon in Kühl- und Vorratsschrank zu Verfügung stand findet man auch nicht so oft. Besten Dank … wir kommen wieder.”
